In Memory of Dr. Fumitaka Sato
I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Fumitaka Sato on September 14, 2025.
He was a distinguished physicist, well known for receiving the Nishina Memorial Prize and for his contributions to general relativity, including the Tomimatsu–Sato solution of Einstein’s field equations.
Personally, I am only a humble reader of one of his books (pictured below), yet his writing left a lasting impression on me. Though I am not a professional physicist, in recent years I have been working on the foundations of quantum computing. Along the way, I felt that Dr. Sato’s book allowed me to glimpse something of the philosophy of quantum theory—a perspective that resonated with my own journey of exploration.
May he rest in peace.
